Perhaps the most important part of the Youth Academy is the emphasis on building quality technique with the players. Technical skills to improve a player's touch will allow for greater ability to pass, dribble, trap, and shoot - all of which are important in learning to play the game. When players progress from the Youth Academy, we expect that they are proficient in being able to effectively control the ball and are comfortable with the basic techniques involved in playing the game.
Players will be encouraged to take the skills that are introduced in training and give them a try during small-sided scrimmage exercises and in matches. As the players continue to attempt these skills, success will come more and more. Coaches will encourage players to have the confidence to try things that he/she may not yet be skilled at doing.
